Shopping API: GetSingleItem Now Returns Minimum Bid, Charity Info
New fields have been added to the GetSingleItem response. Specifically, the call now returns information about the minimum amount required to bid on the item, a product ID for the item, and details about any nonprofit charity that the seller may have selected to benefit from the sale. To return these new fields, specify IncludeSelector = Details in the request.

InformationWeek: "eBay's Max Mancini Turns Threats Into Opportunities"
Mitch Wagner of InformationWeek met with our very own Max Mancini at the Web 2.0 Summit in San Francisco. They covered a number of topics. Here's Max's thoughts on Social Networks:

Socnets [Social Networks] will accelerate the Internet's abilities to connect communities of interest. With social networking sites like Facebook and MySpace, you can not only find people with common interests to yours, you can find out what they're interested in. The challenge for businesses is figuring out ways to sell in those communities. "People who are heavy participants in social networks don't want to be marketed to," Mancini said. EBay has an advantage there -- it's a social network built on commerce; people go to eBay expecting to buy and sell.
