See below for the developer impact.
We first announced in June 2008 that we will be requiring sellers to specify a return policy along with the terms in their listings. This will now be required as of late October. It’s OK to not accept returns, just be sure to specify it.
Return policy now set via attributes.
You probably do not support this feature yet.
If you do, you can continue setting it via attributes until Feb 2009 or you can switch to the new node. If you want to know what the new node looks like, see the blog post. »
This requirement was first announced in June 2008.
An existing node is now required, so you probably already support this feature.
Listings without a specified handling time will fail. Enforcement is October. Learn more »
This requirement was first announced in March 2008.
An existing API node is now required, so you probably already support this feature.
Enforcement for the US site is Aug 25th.
Listings without at least one specified shipping option will fail. Learn more »
As we announced today, we're introducing new shipping and handling charge limits in our Media category (Books, Movies, Music, and Video Games) to make sure listings offer reasonable shipping. These maximums apply to the first flat-rate shipping service within or into the U.S.
Starting in October, listings with first specified shipping option higher than the maximum will fail. The error message will include the maximum for that category. We recommend that developers intercept listings that have shipping costs above the maximum before the listing is submitted and fails. Learn more »
We also announced today that, beginning in late October, paper payment methods such as checks and money orders will no longer be accepted on eBay.com.
If your AddItem call includes paper payment methods, those payment methods will be removed from the listing. If your AddItem call only specifies paper payment methods, the listing will fail. This includes 30-Day GTC listings when they cycle.
Sellers will have a grace period until January 2009 to update their item description to remove paper payment options. Learn more »
At eBay Live we announced that we would be updating the View Item page to improve the buyer experience. Two key factors:
"Flex" design lets you size your template the way you want it
Larger images sizes (EPS automatically resized, self hosted are not)
- Base item picture = 300 x 300 px (current - 200 x 150 px)
- Larger item picture = 500 x 500 px (current - 400 x 300 px)
- No change in supersize image size

As part of the new View Item page release, eBay is hosting the user description on a different domain and loading it into an iFrame for display on the View Item page. This helps eBay separate user content from eBay content and further protect its users from certain types of content that may harm your computer.
With this change, your scripts will only be allowed to modify and control your item description and the area it occupies. Also see other important best practices »
eBay is taking the learnings and the best features from eBay Express and integrating those into the eBay site.
eBay Express is not needed as a separate site anymore, so we are closing it as of 9/15.
If your AddItem call contains Express-specific elements after the site is closed, your AddItem call will not fail. The item will just be listed on the eBay site only. Learn more
As of the end of Septemper, listing or relisting with N&N option will no longer possible.
any listing attempts will be successful, but item will be listed as regular Buy It Now (BIN).
Live listings will keep N&N logo until they end naturally.
Good Til Canceled (GTC) will update with regular BIN at the time of their next renewal (i.e. after 30 days at the latest)
Finding filters for N&N will be removed correspondingly. Learn more »
